Early Years Foundation Stage
Early Years at AHS
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (ages 3–5) is all about building confidence and curiosity.
Through play, stories, and hands-on activities, children develop early skills in language, numbers, and social interaction

Our Classes
The Early Years Foundation Stage at AHS is aimed at supporting the learning and development of children from three to five years of age.
We currently offer two classes in our Early Years department
Learning Through Play
Our EYFS department strives to provide the correct support, provisions, and learning environment to best enable children to thrive and develop as well as be happy and healthy. Play and more importantly, learning through play, is an essential part of our Early Years programme.
At AHS we recognise that children need to be able to use concrete experiences to provide the building blocks for their learning. Based on this, our programme utilises play, modelling, painting, investigating and cooking as important mediums for learning. As children move into the Reception year, a greater emphasis is placed on learning skills that will support and prepare children for Year One.

Learning Environment
Our spacious, open-air joglo classroom and natural gardens allows for many stimulating learning opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom. The Early Years department also has a purpose-built outdoor playground and paddling pool to develop gross motor and sensory skills.
The majority of the learning is facilitated by our experienced classroom teacher and teacher assistant, although we also have specialist teachers for physical education and swimming lessons.

The EYFS programme focuses on seven areas of learning and development:
